Network Engineer

Department: Infrastructure & IT Management

Location: Onsite with rotating on-call responsibilities

FedPoint is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to secure, design, and maintain our enterprise network infrastructure in a high-availability, metrics-driven environment. This is a hands-on technical role focused on network architecture, firewall management, cloud integration, and operational excellence across a growing hybrid infrastructure footprint.

What You’ll Do

Network Architecture, Security & Cloud Engineering – 60%

  • Lead complex network and firewall architecture initiatives

  • Troubleshoot advanced network issues and provide root cause analysis

  • Configure and manage Palo Alto and Cisco firewalls, including application-layer controls

  • Design and implement network segmentation and micro-segmentation strategies

  • Deploy and optimize secure wireless infrastructure

  • Secure and monitor external vendor connections (S2S VPN, FTP, and other methods)

  • Manage load balancers, WAF, and DNS tools for redundancy and availability

  • Support migration and expansion into AWS

  • Operate within strict change control and uptime requirements

Monitoring & Performance Management – 10%

  • Develop network monitoring and alerting practices

  • Manage configuration backups and patching schedules

  • Report on performance and availability metrics

Security Collaboration & Compliance – 10%

  • Partner with Security Engineering on network security strategy

  • Implement security recommendations

  • Support HIPAA compliance and regulatory standards

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing – 5%

  • Maintain detailed network documentation

  • Cross-train team members to ensure continuity and operational resilience

Capacity Planning & Vendor Management – 5%

  • Analyze trends and forecast capacity needs

  • Evaluate and negotiate hardware, software, and service purchases

Infrastructure Support & Special Projects – 5%

  • Provide cross-technology support and contribute to infrastructure initiatives

  • Pure Storage, Cohesity, Active Directory

  • SentinelOne, ServiceNow, SharePoint Online

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a 24x7 production environment

  • Strong expertise in routing, switching, and next-generation firewalls

  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto security features (App-ID, Threat Prevention, VPNs)

  • Knowledge of load balancers, DNS, DHCP, and network protocols

  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments (AWS preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience preferred

  • Network/security certifications preferred (PCNSA, PCNSE, CCNA, CCNP)

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency and discipline

  • Willingness to participate in rotating on-call schedule and onsite support as needed

Location: Portsmouth, NH

Schedule: Hybrid 2 days in the office, with up to 3 days telework - Monday-Friday
