FEDPOINT is seeking a skilled and collaborative Data Analyst to join our FEDVIP Business Analysis and Quality Assurance team. This role is ideal for a technically strong analyst who thrives on solving complex data challenges, partnering with business and IT stakeholders, and mentoring others to elevate team performance.
This is a hybrid position requiring two days per week onsite in our Portsmouth, NH office, balancing flexibility with meaningful in-person collaboration.
The Data Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining data integrity, strengthening system controls, and delivering actionable business insights. You will design and execute complex data updates, investigate system behaviors, build operational reporting, and lead analytical problem-solving efforts.
Beyond technical expertise, this role serves as a team champion, supporting junior analysts through mentorship, peer review, and knowledge sharing.
Data Repair & Quality Assurance
Perform moderate to complex data repairs across staging and production environments using structured SQL
Conduct root cause analysis on data anomalies and recommend preventative solutions
Lead end-to-end testing in mirror environments, validating outputs and scanning for unintended impacts
Conduct peer reviews of data fixes to ensure quality and compliance with team standards
Controls & Analytical Ownership
Own execution and analysis of control reports (DDD), identifying trends and recurring issues
Develop and refine SQL syntax to address systemic root causes
Evaluate and enhance existing data controls to improve monitoring accuracy and efficiency
Partner with leadership to maintain operational dashboards and performance reporting
Business Issue Triage & System Analysis
Independently investigate business-reported issues and assess system behavior in coordination with IT
Log and document defects and change requests with detailed current and future state analysis
Support system build validation and confirm scope of technical issues
Reporting & Business Insights
Design and maintain operational reports using SQL, SSRS, and Excel
Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable reporting solutions
Partner with business units to interpret results, identify trends, and drive data-informed decisions
Cross-Functional Initiatives
Participate in new program rollouts, campaign preparation, and systems testing efforts
Lead workflow improvement initiatives and refine data correction procedures
Support seasonal programs such as Open Season with data pulls, rate table updates, and validation processes
Team Leadership & Knowledge Sharing
Mentor junior analysts and assist with onboarding
Facilitate knowledge-sharing discussions and mini-training sessions
Maintain and enhance shared documentation and reference materials
Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team culture
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business or systems analysis
3+ years gathering and documenting business requirements
2+ years developing and executing moderate to high complexity SQL queries
2+ years developing and executing data update scripts with full testing and validation
Experience with KPIs and business performance reporting
Experience coaching or training team members
Insurance or benefit administration experience preferred
Technical & Professional Strengths
Strong working knowledge of relational databases and reporting tools (SSRS, Oracle, Webfocus, TOAD, Access)
Ability to identify risks, assess trade-offs, and recommend practical solutions
Strong facilitation and stakeholder communication skills
High attention to detail and excellent prioritization skills
Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration
Customer-focused mindset with sound business judgment
Flexibility to shift priorities as business needs evolve
Location: Portsmouth, NH
Schedule: Hybrid 2 days in the office, with up to 3 days telework - Monday-Friday
